For Educators

Thanks to all our grant applicants!

Thank you to all the Worthington Schools educators who submitted a grant application this cycle. We are so excited to have received 20 applications across 11 schools. Our committee is reviewing all eligible applications and scoring them based on a rubric drafted by the WEF Grants Committee. We will be announcing the winners in November and honoring them at our winter gala. We plan to award up to $25,000 in our 2024-2025 grant cycle.

Our Grants Committee is composed of two active WEF board members and four educators and administrators from across Worthington City Schools. This committee will make its recommendation to the WEF board, with the board having the final vote for our winners.

The WEF’s next grant cycle will start in the fall of 2025.

We encourage educators with visionary ideas to apply for funding to bring their projects to life.

Educator grant information

  • Applications may be submitted by any staff member of the Worthington School District. Applications may also be submitted by groups or teams of staff members. All applications require principal and administrator approval.

  • Successful grant projects will add value to, support and enhance, but aren’t in conflict with, the current curriculum. Funds may be requested for projects that provide direct benefit to students and for materials and equipment not routinely supplied by the district or building. What will the WEF NOT fund: food, transportation, or other consumables, performance contracts for district staff, flexible seating, fidget equipment, iPads or Smart Boards. Proposals for basic classroom equipment will only be funded if you can make a strong case that the equipment is essential to implementing district curriculum in an innovative way that is new to the district.

  • Up to $25,000! We would love educators to think big and creatively. We hope to fund one grant up to $10,000, two up to $5,000 each, and five up to $1,000 each.

  • Applications are due October 15, 2024. Please note that approval is required by your Building Principal and District Administrator (Kim Marani, Director of Special Education, Emilie Greenwald, Director of Secondary Education, or Rob Messenheimer, Director of Elementary Education). All requests for review by the District Administrator should be sent to the appropriate person by October 4, 2024.

  • Applicants will be informed of the WEF’s funding decisions by November 15, 2024 with instructions on next steps.

  • Successful applicants will receive checks at a school board meeting prior to January 2025. Checks will be made payable to Worthington Schools with the grant title in the memo section of the check. Funds must be deposited in your school account and all purchases must be made through the Purchase Order process.

  • The WEF Board may offer to fund only specific parts or a portion of your proposal. If your project has another funding partner, such as a PTA or other source, be sure to indicate it on your application.

  • Please contact WEF trustees at worthingtoneducationfoundation@gmail.com with the subject line “Grant Application Question.”
